In an attempt at being more purposeful in training my kids in their cooking skills, last week I let them each select recipes from several of my cookbooks. Then I scheduled dates on my calendar to teach them to cook the dishes they had chosen. The crocodile hunter wanted to make this yummy blueberry crumb cake from
Barefoot Contessa at Home, and since we had a few berries left from last week's blueberry picking at the church, we enjoyed this dish this morning with breakfast. He did it pretty much on his own, and even got a bit of practice on fractions too!
soooo.. are you sharing your recipes?
ReplyDeletethat looks delicious and even more pretty on your beautiful china
ok so my word choice didn't quite work but you get the idea:) sorry
ReplyDeleteThat is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteI also love the dishes and the way they contrast with the colour of the wicker table top and nearby chair.

ReplyDeleteFun! We did this same thing this week. 8yo made a whole dinner for us on Thursday (with a bit of help). I was really impressed and plan to enlist him more often now!
ReplyDeleteGuess what? A friend brought this same crumb cake to coffee hour today! I just laughed that I had just read this blog and then was eating it. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it how things like that happen?
