Necessity, the mother of new skills

Yeah, I now know how to use a scroll saw.  Chalk it up to the lack of volunteer talent within our parish, the determination of a handful of catechists, and one parishioner with a father who had an old saw and no use for it!  Woodworking has never been a hobby I exactly longed to explore, but freedom from begging others or paying for the many little pieces needed for all of the parable work in the atrium is something I CAN APPRECIATE!   And maybe in my spare time I could tackle a few projects from Wee Folk Art.   Ok, maybe not anytime soon, but a girl can dream.

Oh, lucky you! I had the false impression that you could still buy hand tools to do this kind of work, but haven't been able to find any and am intimidated by the thought of purchasing a machine. But I do really wish I could make those Wee Folk Art trees....

yes, I was very intimidated to buy one, which is why I waited so long. Then, about the time I was ready to just go for it, this one was loaned to us! It was not difficult to learn to use, and very empowering :) and I love the wee folk art items! I have painted a few pieces that a friend cut for me, but would love to take the time to make more pieces myself, they make such great gifts for my kids and godchildren.
